Nov 12 an noon EST: Join us for the inaugural IDEA Early Career Researcher Talk as Andrew Dixon (PhD Candidate, Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador) takes us on deep dive into inclusion, knowledge, and the unseen assumptions that shape our research.

In “What Is Seen and Unseen: A Critical Realist Take on Inclusion,” Andrew explores how critical realism and philosophical reflection can uncover hidden presuppositions in our approaches to neurodiversity, evidence, and participation.

Our host, Ansha Nega Ahmed, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher at Queen's University and IDEA will guide us through the session, which invites us to pause and reflect: What do we take for granted when we study inclusion and how can we do better?

We’re excited to announce a new project in partnership with the CIRHR - Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources at the University of Toronto and over a dozen national organizations, including Inclusion Canada, Ready, Willing and Able | Prêts, disponibles et capables, Autism Alliance of Canada | Alliance canadienne de l'autisme and Youth Employment Services YES Services (YES): Transforming Workplace Systems to Build Sustainable Capacity for Inclusion of Diverse Youth.

This project will enhance workplace capacity for employing youth with disabilities—especially neurodiverse youth, youth with intellectual disabilities and youth with mental health challenges—in Canada’s construction, building trades, and manufacturing sectors.

Funded by the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), the project will receive $4.45 million over 38 months (Feb 2025–Mar 2028). Emploi et Développement social Canada (EDSC) / Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Development Canada (ESDC)
