Shayan Morshedi
Research Associate
Shayan Morshedi is a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. He is a research associate in IDEA's Hub 1, Workplace Systems and Partnerships, working under the direction of Emile Tompa.
Morshedi is actively involved in various academic and professional roles. He serves as the coordinator of qualitative methods workshops (2023-2024), the eastern representative in the CSA Student Concerns Subcommittee (2023-2026), and the coordinator of SoFa meetings at the Sociology Department Memorial University (2024-present). Morshedi is researching how socio-cognitive processes shape collective memory. He will teach at the Sociology department in Memorial University this fall 2024.
Morshedi holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University and a M.A. in Cognitive Sciences from ICSS. He has expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods, cognitive sociology, empathy, symbolic interaction, social media, disability inclusion, and social theory. Morshedi’s M.A. thesis was awarded the best in “The Second National Competition of Graduate Dissertations with a Focus on Preventing Violence”.
