Kim Atwood is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at Queen's University. She is a research assistant to Dan Samosh in IDEA’s Hub 3, Transitions to Work and Career Development.
Atwood is a member of the Board of Directors for Kingston Access Services, consultant to the City of Kingston's Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee for site plan reviews and a member of Queen's University's Built Environment Advisory Group. Atwood is a retired registered occupational therapist in Ontario, where her niche was in assistive computer technology for students living with disabilities.
Her current research project explores how reliance on wheelchair accessible transportation and paratransit services in Ontario affects the employment opportunities and ontological security of persons living with disabilities.
