Hélène Sultan-Taïeb

Professor, Department of Organization and Human Resources, Université du Québec à Montréal

Hélène Sultan-Taieb is a Professor in the Department of Human Resources at the Université du Québec à Montréal (ESG-UQAM). She is co-lead of IDEA’s Measurement and Evaluation Activity Area.

Sultan-Taïeb’s research focuses on the evaluation of preventive interventions and programs, more specifically implementation processes and cost-benefit analyses. She has led evaluation projects on Quebec’s Healthy Enterprise standard (which recognizes companies that have implemented workplace health and wellness initiatives), a program that ensures the health of pregnant workers, and interventions in hospitals and governmental institutions. The recommendations deriving from these projects have been taken into account by Quebec’s Commission des norms de l’équitè, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNSST, the provincial government body overseeing employment standards), the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services, and other organizations in Quebec and France.

Sultan- Taïeb earned her PhD in economics at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales) in Paris.

“We need more inclusive workplaces, as well as tools and indicators to assess innovative strategies that are meant to build inclusive workplaces. My first objective working with IDEA will be to build the capacity of employers to monitor changes, taking into account already-existing data available to them, since resources for the assessment of these strategies are usually very limited. The second objective will be to assess the impacts of IDEA-SIL interventions. What are the results and effects in relation to the implementation process of these innovative initiatives, and to what extend can we reproduce and disseminate such initiatives to other organizational environments?”
