Emmanuelle Lopez – Bastos works and plays on the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. As National Human Rights, Equity and Diversity (HRED) Co-ordinator for UFCW Canada, she is proud to serve as Chair of the UFCW Canada HRED Committee, the UFCW Canada Indigenous Sub-Committee and as an Executive Committee member of the Executive board of UFCW OUTreach. With 20+ years of experience in the labour movement, Lopez-Bastod leads national equity-focused strategic programming and advocacy initiatives and is dedicated to building worker power through an intersectional, feminist, and anti-oppressive approach.
UFCW Canada is a proud supporter of Inclusive Design for Employment Access (IDEA). Research grounded on disability and employment is critical in supporting workers with disabilities and creating work environments that go beyond accommodation and into accessibility, something which is good for every worker. UFCW has a long history of fighting to protect worker rights, including the right to safety and workplace protections. In creating innovative models of workplace inclusion alongside industry stakeholders, IDEA’s work will advance worker justice and make a lasting impact in achieving equality in society at large.
